#Q1044 - Changing the Default Folder in WorkingArtist on Windows Vista/Win7.

Beginning with version 3.07.07a, WorkingArtist is Vista/Win7 enabled.

Storing Images on the Vista operating system.

We strongly recommend that you store images in either a subfolder within the Pictures folder or in a subfolder within the WorkingArtist30 folder. If you save image files in a folder on the root directory you may encounter problems with Vista/Win7 virtualizing the files.

Viewing Images in WorkingArtist.

WorkingArtist allows you to view your artwork image file in the artwork record. The actual image is NOT stored in the WorkingArtist application. It is stored in a folder on your hard drive. WorkingArtist only stores the "path" to the image. The path is a description of the folder/file location on the hard drive. For example, if you store the image in a folder called "Images" in your Pictures folder, the path will be something like "c:\Users\(name of user)\Pictures\Images". When you page to an artwork record, WorkingArtist links to the image file using the path location of the file.

It is good practice to store your image files in a single, well-named folder. In WorkingArtist you can then specify the folder where your images are stored as your Default Folder. This makes it easier to manage your image files in WorkingArtist. If the location of the artwork image file changes, the path will also change and the image will not display in WorkingArtist. This might happen if you move an image file to a different folder, if you change the location of the folder containing the artwork image files, or if you move WorkingArtist to a new computer.

To change the Default Folder setting in WorkingArtist so that the correct path is displayed to your artwork images, please do the following:

1. From the Main Switch Board, click on the Artwork icon to display the View Artwork screen.

2. Click on Change Default (lower right hand corner of the screen) to display the Change Slide Path screen. Here we will select the default folder with your images.

3. Click on the Browse button to display the Browse for Folder screen.

4. Locate and select the appropriate folder and click OK to accept.

5. Enter the new file extension.

6. Click Save and then Close.

7. In View Artwork, click on Change Folder for All Images. This will change the slide path for all artworks with image files located in the selected folder.

8. After you have completed the above steps, check to make certain that all images are displaying correctly.
