When Paging Through Artwork Records there is sometimes an Illegal Operation
When rapidly paging through artwork records by clicking on the navigation buttons in the Artwork or Slide Show form, an illegal operation message is displayed and the program shuts down. This is a known problem with Access when images files are linked into the image control.
You can prevent this problem by waiting until an image loads before paging to the next record.
You may also be able to resolve this problem by changing a Windows registry setting that turns off the progress bar when loading images.
-- Go to Start/Run.
-- Type in regedit and click on OK.
-- On the left section of the screen go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Import\JPEG\Options.
-- On the right section of the screen double-click on ShowProgressDialog. Change the value from yes to no.
-- Exit the Registry.
The above instructions turn off the progress bar for jpg images. You can also turn off the progress bar for other images, such as bmp and tif.
WARNING: People who are not familiar with the Window Registry should not change registry setting. Change Windows Registry settings at your own risk.

The Global Toolbar is "Lost"

2. At the Main Switchboard, click on the Maintenance button;
3. From the Change Data combo-box, select the Restore Global Toolbar option.
A message will display: "Are you sure that you want to add the information in

4. Click "Yes". A confirmation message will display;
5. Click "OK";
6. Click on "Close" to close out of Maintenance;
7. Close WorkingArtist3.0 and reopen it.
This will reset the Windows registry settings for this toolbar.

Cannot Link JPG or TIF Images
When attempting to link a JPG or TIF image, you get a message saying that WorkingArtist does not support this file type.
There are three known reasons for this error message:
1. The image file is not valid.
Locate the image file and double-click on it. If the file does not open, it is probably not a valid image file.
2. You do not have Microsoft Office Graphics filters on your computer.
WorkingArtist is shipped with a default setting for Microsoft Office Graphics filters.
If you are not using Microsoft Office, you may need to change the setting in WorkingArtist.
You can check to see if the Microsoft Office Graphics Filters are installed on your machine by doing the following:
a. Go to Start/Find/Files or Folders;
b. In the "Search for Files" field, type in: jpegim32.flt
c. In the "LookIn box" select: c:\
d. Click on Find Now;
e. If the File jpegim32.flt does not exist, you do not have the Microsoft Office Graphics filters.
You can install the Microsoft Office graphics filters from your Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word setup disks. Choose the Custom Install. The option that you want to install is called Filters and Converters.
If you do not have Microsoft Office Graphics.
a. Open WorkingArtist;
b. Click on Artist Info/Options;
c. Click on the Artwork tab;
d. Select "Alt Filters" from the Image Display Method Box.
The "Alt Filters"generally work just as well as Microsoft Office Graphics filters.
3. The image file is too large.
We recommend using images files that are under one hundred KB in size. This is a good size for linking to applications and uploading to your website.
If you have larger images, we recommend the following:
a. Create a folder for your large image files. These files can be used for high quality printing;
b. Make copies of the large image files and place the copies in a second folder;
c. Using software, such as Photshop, resize the images so that they are smaller (under one hundred KB). Photoshop has a "Save for Web" option;
d. The smaller images in the second folder can be used to link with WorkingArtistor for upload to a website.
e. For batch resize of your images, check out http://www.digitalphotoslideshow.com
This inexpensive utility has a function that will resize an entire folder of images.

Cannot open WorkingArtist 2.0 from the icon
When you double-click on the WorkingArtist 2.0 icon you get a series of error messages like the following:
1.The command line you used to start Microsoft Access contains an option that Microsoft Access doesn't recognize. Exit and restart Microsoft access using valid command-line options.
2. The profile "WorkingArtist" that you specified on the command line doesn't exist in the Windows Registry.
3. Couldn't find file C:\Program this file is required for startup.
These errors are caused by a problem in your Win 95/98/NT operating system. It cannot read command line parameters that have folder names that are longer than 8 characters or have spaces in them. Our research indicates that this problem may be caused by the Pretty Worm virus. You can go to http://www.Norton.com or http://www.McAffee.com for more information about this virus. You can also find information by doing a search at http://www.Google.com .
This virus is not caused by our software. It is propagated through email. If you think you have this virus, be sure to get the step-by-step instructions from Norton or McAffee in order to detect and remove it. Make sure you have anti-virus software installed on your machine and that you update your virus detection files on a regular basis, i.e., once every two weeks.
We have created a work-around to this problem in our install routine by converting long names to short names and by eliminating spaces.
If you have experienced this problem, please get the WorkingArtist 2.01.02c version. The update will not correct this problem, you need the full install in order to replace the shortcuts.

Invalid Page Fault during Installation
The error message is "GLJ9204 caused an invalid page fault in
module MSRD2X35.DLL at 0167:041e7e0c." It's also possible that the installation may simply "hang".
We install MSRD2X35.dll with our application. Research on the MSRD2X35.dll indicates that there can be a problem with it not being properly registered. Apparently, if this dll already exists on your machine and is not registered properly or is corrupt, the Wise Installation program blows up when it checks for the existence of this file on your machine.
Resolution:
1) Locate the MSRD2X35.dll in the c:\Windows\System directory.
2) Rename MSRD2X35.dll to MSRD2X35.Old.
3) Install WorkingArist.
Please let us know if you have difficulties with this.

Screens are cut off
When you open WorkingArtist 2.0, the main screens are cut off so that you can't see everything on the form. Maximizing doesn't help.
This is most likely because you are using Large Fonts as a Windows setting. Our rescaling function doesn't take into account the large font setting
To determine if you are using the Large Fonts option, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel. Double-click on Display. Click on the Settings tab. You will see where you can select Small Fonts or Large Fonts. Small Fonts is the default.
Resolution:
1) Change to the Windows Small Fonts option;
or
2) In WorkingArtist 2.0, click on the Display tab. Uncheck every option except the Maximize option. Check the Maximize option. When you close the form, WorkingArtist 2.0 will close. Reopen WorkingArtist and check to make sure the screens are OK.

Reports are Cancelled
When you try to run a report, you get a message that the report was cancelled.
This is most likely a memory/resource issue. The computer runs out of memory while assembling the report, hits the end of the memory and cancels itself.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1) Do system housekeeping, i.e., clear out your tmp files, empty your recycle bin and do a scan disk and defrag on your hard drive. You could also clear out temporary internet files.
2) Reboot your computer. Determine what applications are starting up when you boot, and if there are any you don't need running in the background, close them.
3) Go to Windows Explorer and drill down to C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. Delete the shortcuts in this folder if you do not absolutely need the applications to start up when you boot up your machine.
4) If you still have the problem, try booting into Safe Mode. If you are running Win 95/98, you can tap the F8 function key while booting up (just tap, don't hold down) until you get to a menu list. Safe Mode will be on that list. Safe Mode allows you to boot up with the minimum devices/applications running using the vanilla VGA video driver. See if you still have the problem in Safe Mode. When you reboot after this, your regular configurations will still be there.
5) Do regular system housekeeping and shut down your computer at night to release memory.

Invalid Page Fault During Installation of WorkingArtist on Win 98
When you attempt to install WorkingArtist 3.0 on Win 98, you get the following error messages:
SETUP caused an invalid page fault in
module at 0000:20202020.
SETUP caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 015f:bff8abea.
This is a problem with creating a shortcut for WorkingArtist on the desktop. It has only been reported on some Win 98 operating systems. It is an error in the Wise Installation system, not in WorkingArtist. Although we do not know the cause of the error, which is machine specific, we have an installation that skips this step in the install. We provide instructions for creating the shortcut manually.
If you have this problem, please visit our support page at www.workingartist.com/support and open a Tech Support Request.
